ABOUT US

Leaders in Asbestos Removal

Asbestech has risen to become one of the UK's leading providers of asbestos and hazard abatement solutions.

Overview

Originally simply an asbestos removal contractor, we have evolved to help our clients with many more hazards, including lead paint removal, guano accumulation, controlled ventilation hygiene, soil decontamination and general environmental cleaning.

With over three decades of experience working in both the public and private sectors and with clients located throughout Europe, we are the premier supplier to leading companies, authorities and utilities.

We have a wealth of experience in delivering tailored solutions across an array of challenging environments and have partnered with clients in varied market sectors from local authority housing to national utility upgrades. Our expertise is not confined to hazard abatement: after abatement has been completed there is often a need for reinstatement work to replace the hazardous materials with modern, safe alternatives. That’s where our mutli-skilled operatives come into their own, saving our clients the time and money involved in finding and appointing separate contractors.

With our head office in London and teams located throughout the UK we are well placed to serve our clients nationally, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

Our mission is simple: To ensure that we develop and promote a culture of safety, quality and performance that is unmatched in the hazard abatement industry. We will achieve this through the drive and commitment of our people and investment in innovative plant and new technologies.

We utilise a number of tools to help us achieve our goals such as key performance indicators (KPI's). These help us to measure our performance both in terms of what we expect of ourselves and also what is expected from us. Our KPI's cover a wide range of topics, including safety, health and environmental performance; financial viability; clients satisfaction; people management and project management. These can be tailored to meet the particular objectives of our clients.

We ask all of our clients for feedback on every job as part of our management system.

Experience

We’ve been around for over three decades – much longer than most asbestos and hazard abatement companies – and in that time we have seen a lot of changes in our industry in terms of regulations, techniques and primarily in attitudes. What was once the preserve of backroom staff with little authority, the issue of asbestos and hazard management has greatly increased in significance in line with the financial and legal penalties for getting it wrong. We have always prided ourselves on our ability to continually exceed our clients’ expectations. Our managers training, professionalism, expertise and commitment ensures that we deliver a level of service that is unsurpassed in our industry.

Each project that we undertake is different. At the very earliest stage of each enquiry we carefully choose the Contract Manager to control it, aligning their skills and experience to the project needs to ensure that the unique risk assessments, Safety Health and Environmental (SHE) plans and method statements allow us to build the project delivery on solid foundations. Our collaborative approach to the delivery of our projects underpins our objective of forming strong relationships with our customers. We have worked across a huge variety of fields, undertaking projects from small domestic sites up to several million pound contracts with national organisations. Whether it is a one off project or a fixed term national contract over several years we are adaptable enough to deliver.

We ask all of our clients for feedback on every job as part of our management system. This is not just a box ticking exercise; every piece of feedback we receive is reviewed individually in an effort to improve what we do for our clients.

We are always questioning the way that things are done to see if they can be improved.

People

At Asbestech we know that we are only as good as our people. That’s why we choose our team very carefully. Everyone from our Directors, including the ARCA Governing Council Chairman, to our site based teams have an important part to play in maintaining and developing Asbestech as the number one provider in the hazard abatement industry.

We can only develop and grow as a company if we strive to continually improve what we do, and that can only happen if we invest time and effort in our people. From regular personal development and review meetings to identifying the latest techniques and then training our team in them, we are always questioning the way that things are done to see if they can be improved.

Maintaining the highest ethical and professional standards and accepting social responsibility is key to the way that we operate.

Community

We realise that we are part of the community that we work in. That’s why we have developed our Corporate and Social Responsibility Policy. This commitment informs the way in which we seek to deal with those who work for us and the way in which we relate to our clients

Leading the way as a socially conscious business and promoting the highest ethical and professional standards is essential to the way that we operate. We seek to leave the community and the environment with a positive legacy from any activities that we undertake; which can be through employing local people, utilising local suppliers or reducing the amount of waste we generate through recycling. We often commit to reinvesting an element of our profits or making man hours available to local causes.

Our Commitment to Health & Safety

At Asbestech, we work hard to make sure that our team and anyone who interacts with our business is kept safe. Our people are empowered and encouraged at all levels to ensure that the welfare of all our stakeholders is put first. Leading practises and procedures including structured communication are the building blocks for our ‘beyond compliance’ attitude to Health and Safety which is demonstrated by our accreditation to OHSAS 18001 and the award of a full unencumbered 3 year Asbestos Removal Licence from the Health & Safety Executive. We’ve invested heavily in our internal I.T. infrastructure to make sure that we consider all risks associated with our projects at a very early stage of planning including assessing the competencies of our people.

Effective leadership with constant review and monitoring procedures are essential in making sure that we deliver safety as part of our works first time, every time with employee inclusion and a strong recognition and reward structure in place to highlight our people who go ‘above and beyond’.

OUR SENIOR LEADERSHIP TEAM

Daniel Chalkley

Managing Director

As Managing Director of Asbestech Daniel is responsible for the overall performance of the company, ensuring the company’s financial performance allows us to meet our goals. Daniel also controls the overall strategy and direction that we take. Daniel holds ultimate responsibility for Health and Safety, with his decision-making being driven first and foremost by ensuring the safety of all our stakeholders.

With a history in corporate finance Daniel has been in the asbestos sector since 1999. He acquired Asbestech in 2005 and since then the company has grown to become one of the UK’s leading providers of asbestos and hazard abatement solutions.

Outside of work Daniel is a Governor at a local primary school, a position he has undertaken for the past 8 years. Daniel, unlike many school governors, does not have an educational background and this allows him to bring a different perspective to the role.

When he is not watching his beloved Arsenal Daniel still manages to play a bit of football. Other than that, he spends most evenings providing taxi services to his three daughters; it is his daughters involvement in girls football that brought about Asbestech’s ongoing sponsorship of Whetstone Wildcats Girls football club.

Sally Charles

Working with the Senior Leadership Team Sally works to foster a productive and professional work environment. Sally believes in working collaboratively across all teams in pragmatically addressing the challenges that face businesses in today’s workplace.
