The 10th of October is World Mental Health Day. It’s a day to raise awareness of and to talk about mental health, how we need to look after it and to remember how important it is to get help if you are struggling.
Talking about mental health is important and has the bonus that it is good for your mental health too, but starting a conversation isn’t always easy. Whether you would like to talk to someone about how you are feeling, or check-in with someone you care about we thought some tips might be useful:
When you are ready to talk about your mental health:
- Choose someone you trust to talk to
- Think about the best place to talk
- Prepare yourself for their reaction
If you want to talk to someone about their mental health:
- Find a good space to talk without distractions
- Listen and ask questions
- Ask how you can help
If you or someone you know is struggling with their mental health, remember that you are not alone, and that there are places you can go to get help. Asbestech has trained Mental Health First Aiders that are always available to any member of the team to talk and provide help.
